May 6, 2002
ATLANTA -- BellSouth Corp. (NYSE: BLS) today launched its expanded BellSouth FastAccess Business DSL product line, featuring new high-speed options, Domain Name Service (DNS) and Static IP packages. With these new Business Class DSL product offerings, BellSouth now offers its business customers a complete portfolio of Internet access solutions ranging from dial to Dedicated Internet Access, all backed by BellSouth's strong legacy of network reliability and customer service.
BellSouth's new product options include BellSouth FastAccess Business Speed 384 and FastAccess Business Speed 768. These products are intended for small, medium and large businesses to enable such applications as remote access, desktop videoconferencing, server hosting and e-commerce. Both products include a service level agreement, providing a 30-calendar day installation guarantee and 99.9% network availability.
In addition, BellSouth's business DSL customers now have the option to self-install their DSL service, eliminating the need and cost of a technician visit. Also, customers can now choose to use their own customer premise equipment (CPE) rather than only those sold by BellSouth. BellSouth will provide a recommended list of CPE approved and tested to work with BellSouth FastAccess Business DSL.
"BellSouth continues to offer its business customers the most complete portfolio of communications services," said Bill Story, vice president of broadband marketing for BellSouth. "These products, including the new speed options, self-install and bring your own CPE, further expand our portfolio of Internet services for the business market. This enables business customers of all sizes to take advantage of enhanced services such as e-mail, server hosting, remote access to corporate networks and a host of other Internet-based applications that are enhanced by a high-speed connection -- all powered by the speed and reliability of BellSouth FastAccess Business DSL."
With the introduction of these products, the BellSouth FastAccess Business DSL product suite now includes the following integrated solutions:
- FastAccess Business Speed 768 provides Internet access at a minimum speed of 768k downstream x 512k upstream, and is ideal for companies that upload large files. Provided with Static IP and Domain Name Service (DNS), FastAccess Business Speed 768 enables companies to have more control over, manage and host their web-based applications.
- FastAccess Business Speed 384 delivers consistent two-way bandwidth providing downstream and upstream speeds at 384k. Provided with Static IP and Domain Name Service (DNS), FastAccess Business Speed 384 is ideal for popular applications such as desktop video conferencing, distance learning, interactive video/audio, and video on demand.
- FastAccess Business Static IP provides the same high-speeds as FastAccess Business but also includes Domain Name Service (DNS) and Static IP addresses (1, 5, 13, 29 or 61). FastAccess Business Static IP appeals to those businesses requiring remote access to a Local Area Network (LAN) or Virtual Private Network (VPN), or for those hosting servers for web, file transfer protocol (FTP), email or other applications.
- FastAccess Business provides high-speed Internet access up to 1.5 MB downstream and 256K upstream with simultaneous voice and data capability. FastAccess Business provides high-speed Internet access for searching the web and downloading large files up to 50 times faster than with a 28.8K modem.
All options include 5 email addresses and a back-up dial account with up to 20 hours free access.
