BellSouth and The Weather Channel Interactive Launch Severe Weather Alert Service

Notify! by The Weather Channel(R) and BellSouth delivers customizable weather information; Customers can receive urgent hurricane and tornado warnings anytime, anywhere

ATLANTA, April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- BellSouth (NYSE: BLS - News) and The Weather Channel Interactive today announced the availability of Notify! by The Weather Channel® and BellSouth. This new service provides customers with detailed, customized alerts of severe weather, including tornado warnings, severe thunderstorm warnings and flash flood warnings, delivered to their home phones, mobile phones, e-mail addresses or text pagers. "Notify! delivers detailed weather warnings to BellSouth customers in real time so they can always be prepared if severe weather strikes," said Paulino Barros, chief product officer - BellSouth. "We help them control how they are contacted about weather impacting their area." The catastrophic weather conditions of 2005 emphasize the need for timely weather warnings. Notify! enables customers to customize alerts and choose how and when they want to receive news of impending severe weather. In addition, they can have alerts delivered to up to three phones, plus text pager and e- mail. Customers also select which type of severe weather alerts they wish to receive on each device, and if they wish for silent periods. As soon as local severe weather warnings are issued, BellSouth customers will be informed.
